Tour Du District Information

The 2010 Tour Du District was a huge success! The food, array of free cycling raffle items, and tremendous cycling support for the riders made the inaugural event memorable for all involved. Online registration for the Tour Du District has officially opened. To register on BikeReg click here. You can also register by completing the registration form and mailing it to the address located on the form. If you were unable to preregister, you will be able to register for the Tour Du District the morning of the event. The first 150 preregistered and day of registration riders will receive a t-shirt. As a reminder, DJ Serbak will be playing music and there will be a raffle with prizes after the event. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

Welcome to the Tour du District Blog

The Tour Du District charity cycling event will offer cyclists three routes to choose from. The 25 mile route and 30 mile route will depart at 7:30 am. The 25 mile route will traverse through 12 communities located in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh. The 30 mile hill route will follow the same route as the 25 mile route and will add an additional 5 miles of steep hills. The hills in the 30 mile route are some of the steepest percentage grade hills in Allegheny County. The hills in the 30 mile route will make the 30 miles feel more like a 50-60 mile ride on flat roads. The 5 mile leisurely route will be a great opportunity for riders to participate in the event without enduring the more intermediate rides. Please consider supporting this great fall cycling event!

The 30 mile route will include 3 significant hills: Windsor 25%, Marion 19%, and Rossmore. Windsor and Marion are two of the steepest hills in Allegheny County according to an article published a few years ago. The 30 mile hill route will offer a challenging set of climbs. The route will offer cyclists a great opportunity to experience some of the steepest hills known to cycling and prepare for the Dirty Dozen Cycling event held in late November.
